Founded in 2022 by Rachel Jefferson, Label Hjem is a future-focussed design studio carving out a new space for reinvented textiles through creative application.

The concept for each and every concept is a simple one: to celebrate the value and beauty in discarded materials. Starting at the end of a garment's lifespan, Label Hjem sources directly from material waste systems; capturing post-consumer garments and used materials. By reconsidering their value a wealth of opportunites open up to extend their use-by date and redefine their purpose.

Partnering with some of Europe's leading collectors, sorters and recyclers, Label Hjem is tapping into an incredible supply of existing textiles; growing a network of industry experts, challenging the status quo and demonstrating alternative manufacturing structures.

THE NAME?

​

A nod to founder Rachel's Northumbrian heritage, the colloquial term 'Hjem' (pronounced 'yem'), meaning 'home' is interpreted as an opportunity to refocus thinking surrounding our identity and habitat.

 

Firstly, at micro level in how we clothe our bodies, curate our living spaces, local environment, then panning out to the wider global ecosystems which proactively considers social and ecological impacts.
